Celebrating 125 Years of Caring for Children

Maryville Academy was founded in 1883 as a result of the orphaned children needing a home following the Great Chicago Fire and several epidemics resulting in hundreds of homeless and orphaned children. Originally called St. Mary's Training School for for Boys. It was a safe haven providing children with opportunities to learn a trade, receive an education and become productive citizens.

Today the services have expanded to care for children of all ages, backgrounds and circumstances. Maryville provides both in-patient and out-patient services for children, their families, and their support networks.

Maryville is committed to providing a safe haven to children who have known a lifetime of abuse. These youth need not be headed toward a life filled with gangs, drugs and welfare dependence. At Maryville the receive the opportunities to heal, grow, and make their own contributions to their families and communities.
